About Me
Pweza is a Tanzanian DJ, producer, and curator at the forefront of East Africa’s evolving Afro-house and electronic music scene. Raised in Arusha and now based in Dar es Salaam, his musical identity has been shaped by African percussion, global electronic sounds, and the influence of UK nightlife culture.
Known for his technical precision, commitment, and intentional approach to DJing, Pweza builds his sets around rhythm, instinct, and connection with the dancefloor. His sound moves fluidly between Afro-house, Deep House, Organic House, and 3-step, creating vibrant and immersive experiences that honor both the music and the dancers.
A familiar name within Dar es Salaam’s house music community, Pweza has contributed to the growth of Tanzania’s electronic music culture through performances at Midimu’s forest gatherings, Boogie in the Bush, Tafaria Castle, and Aduma Presents in Nairobi, among others. In 2025, he was also featured in the lineup of Nyege Nyege, further expanding his presence within the East African electronic music circuit.
As the co-founder of Midimu Collective and Groove Baby, Pweza is part of a growing movement that brings together electronic music, art, nature, and community. Much like the octopus from which he takes his name, Pweza is a musical shape-shifter—fluid, adaptable, and constantly finding new ways to connect people through rhythm.
