About Me
Dismas Dioniz is a Tanzanian contemporary artist whose work explores human stories through movement and sound. By blending Hip-hop, Contemporary, and traditional dance forms, he creates a distinctive language that connects the past with the present. He is the co- founder of African Roots Dance Company, which produces works and dance films that reflect on social DISMAS DIONIZ
issues and human experiences.
His recent solo piece, Crying Soil, explores the effects of climate change and the deep bond between humans and the land. Dismas continues to expand his artistic practice through his current work Madaraka, which addresses the misuse of leadership, and through dramaturgy training with Panta Rei Dance Theatre from Norway.
